A Dinner Story

"I can't believe this! Did you hear that Vegeta? We have to take our women out to dinner!" Goku yells. "Hmph. We have to. Just deal with it." Vegeta
answers. Meanwhile….

Bulma and ChiChi are in ChiChi's room getting ready to go out. "This is going to be so fun!" Bulma beams. "So, where did you decide to go?" I fix my hair
and turn to Bulma. "Some place called the Hard Rock."

"What is it?"

"Some sort of café thing, or some kind of restaurant."

"Huh? I don't get it."

"All I know is, there are tables where you sit and eat a fancy meal, and there's live music."

"Oh. That sounds great!"

"I hope so."

"Do you know who's playing?"

"I heard this girl is going to sing."

"Oh! How nice."

I turn back to my mirror and sigh. They better not mess this up for us….

Goku and Vegeta wait outside for the girls. I walk out and stare at Goku. "You're going. . . . like that?" Goku was wearing his orange and blue fighting
uniform. "Goku! This is a fancy place! You can't wear that!" Goku shrugs. He wasn't about to go and get changed right that minute. I sighed and waited for
Bulma. As if on que, Bulma came out of the house. "I'm ready!" she beamed. (Guess who's overly excited?) She went in her purse and grabbed the car
capsule. She threw it on the ground, and with a poof, a shiny red convertible appeared. They all hopped in and started off.

On the way there, Bulma noticed Vegeta's clothes. "Vegeta, why are you wearing that?" Vegeta glared over at Bulma. "Because I want to. Besides, I don't
even want to go to this stupid place." Bulma was as mad as I was. "You can't go to this restaurant….. thingy place… like that!" Vegeta was wearing a
sleeveless black t-shirt and torn jeans. This was worse than Goku's outfit. Bulma sighed and leaned back into her seat. I hope this turns out ok… I have a
feeling……

When they got the restaurant, Bulma put the car back into its capsule and back into her purse. They went inside and went to the reservation desk. "The
Sons" I said to the man. "I'm sorry, we don't allow that kind of riffraff here." I looked over my shoulder at the boys. With their clothes, it's no wonder they're
not allowed here. But how dare he talk about my husband like that! How rude! "How dare you talk about my husband like that!! He's…" Bulma put a hand
on my shoulder and whispered into my ear, "I'll handle this." She went into her purse and pulled out a crisp fifty. "All for you if you, uh…" she said looking
over her shoulder at Goku and Vegeta. He snatched the money out of her hand and grabbed four menus. "Right this way please…" Bulma gave me a wink. I
smiled.

Boy, I was impressed. Bulma was usually the first one to loose her temper in a situation like this. I looked back at the guys. My sweet, dumb Goku was just
standing there with his ever so present grin, while the all powerful Vegeta just stood there with his arms crossed leaning up against the wall. As I looked at
them both for no apparent reason I caught something glittering in the corner of my eye.
As I turned my head to examine it, I saw that it was Bulma's gold dress sparkling. She had her hands on her hips and was bent down forward, a little at the
back. She was looking at us roughly.

"Are you guy's coming or are you going to stand there like a bunch of idiots all night?" "Oh sorry," I told her shaking my head out of the trance I was in.
"Here we come."

She slowly turned around and began to march off. We all followed her (some more reluctant than others) around the corner into a big, room filled with
people. All of them seemed to be whispering to each other as they watched us enter the room. I settled for a reason. Every other man in the building was
wearing a suit, and, I suppose Goku's bright orange outfit and Vegeta's ripped blue jeans and black mid-long shirt with no sleeves were a bit noticeable.
Well, let them stare. Let them stare until their blue in the face. It wasn't hurting anything. Was it?
We took our seats at the table and looked toward the stage. Some people were dancing to a nice slow song. Then the song was over and they all sat back
down. "Aw, I didn't even get a chance to dance to that one!" I complain. Bulma leans over to me. "I thought you said there was going to be a singer?" I
looked at the stage. There was no singer, just a band. Just then everyone started clapping, and a beautiful young woman came onto the stage. Her dress
was like a princess. A tight blue top that went down to her waist, and then a long sparkly blue skirt that touched the floor. She had a silk scarf around her
waist, and her hair was done up curly with a diamond tiara and a pearl necklace.
"She looks beautiful!" Bulma gawked.

I look over at the boys. Goku and Vegeta were staring. I figured that. I turn back to the stage, and the woman starts to speak.
"Hello everyone and welcome to the Hard Rock. How many of you remember me from last time?" Everyone claps. "Ok, first I'm going to sing a song for all
the couples out there. Don't be shy to come up and dance."
She started to sing a beautiful slow song called Pure White Reflection. Goku and I started to dance, while Bulma sat and watched us and listened to the
beautiful song. Vegeta was too stubborn to ask her to dance; his pride would get in the way. When the song was over, Goku and I sat down, and the
woman started to sing a fast song. Goku signaled a waiter. No one came. The registration man came up to us and said he'd bring a waiter for us. We
thanked him and he left.
Soon after that, a very skinny, clumsy young man came out a set of double doors with a stack of menus in tow. A smile stretched across my face.
His hair was as thick and wild as Goku's except it was a little bit shorter on top. As I moved my head around to have a good view of him, he tripped over the
carpet. Damn it. No one else seemed to notice him. Vegeta and Bulma were in the middle of some argument and Goku was gawking at the beautiful singer.
I turned back to the kid. Something was so familiar about it but I just couldn't put my finger on it.
I watched him pick up the menus and stand back up. He pushed down his hair and looked over to where we were sitting. Then it hit me! I couldn't believe
my eyes. The clumsy waiter kid was……….Gohan.
My little boy was a …. waiter. What was I going to do! Why isn't he at home studying? Why didn't he tell me he worked here? And, why didn't Goku and
Vegeta feel his Ki? Were they ALL in on this? They would have picked up his power level and said something by now if they weren't. I felt steam coming out
of my ears. I stood up with a loud screech from my chair. Everyone turned their attention to me.

"ChiChi, what's wrong?" I heard Bulma ask.

"I'm going to the Ladies room." I replied through clenched teeth.

"Oh, well I'll go with you."

"No, I think you better stay here." I was about to scream! They better leave me alone.

"Um…. OK, go ahead."

I gave a brisk short nod and walked off as they resumed to whatever they had been doing. Gohan turned his back to me and was trying to sneak off. I
walked up behind him and grabbed him by the neck.

"What the….."

After locating the Ladies room with my eyes I dragged him over and pushed him in. Two young girls were there, using the mirror to fix their make-up. After
giving them a murderous glance they grabbed their stuff and ran out the door, I hoped they would leave. "What are you doing here?!"

"I'm a waiter."

"I know that! Why?!"

"I need the money. Please, don't tell anyone."

"Does your father know about this?"

"No. I'm keeping my energy level down.

"Why?"

"Because Vegeta is here! If he finds out, it'll be all talk about his price heritage and how Kakarot's son is so strong and he has to be a waiter blah, blah,
blah….."

"Oh."

"Please mom! Don't tell anyone!"

"Fine. But what about our food? Who'll be our waiter?"

"I'll order for you."

"You just think of everything don't you?"

"Thanks mom."

With that, Gohan started to leave. Another young blonde woman came in and looked at Gohan as he held the door for her. Then Gohan left. "Couldn't you
have waited till you got to a hotel or something?" I crossed my arms and left. I decided not to comment on that one.
Back at the table, Bulma and Vegeta had stopped arguing, and Goku was…… not there? Where could he have gone? I sat back in my seat and turned
towards the stage. This young woman was a beautiful singer. The lights dimmed and she started singing a song called Because You Loved Me. Two men
came over and picked me and Bulma out of our seats and started dancing.

"Listen sir, I don't-"

"See that girl over there?" He pointed to the blonde slut I had met in the bathroom. But what's this! Goku was dancing with her! Why I oughta-

"She told me you like to play hardball. So I was just wondering if…."

"I don't think so." I said. I tried to slip loose but he wouldn't loosen his grip on me. "Listen if you don't let go of me-"

"Let her go right now." I look to my right and I see a young man with black hair standing next to me. "She doesn't want to dance with you. Let her go."

"Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it?"

With that the young man punched my dance partner in the face, causing him to let me out of his grip. Everyone started watching. The singer stopped
singing. Goku came by and watched as all of H.F.I.L. broke loose. The two men started fighting. People started screaming. The young singer broke through
the crowd and directed everyone out the door. The two men were missing punches and hitting people.

"Hurry! Everyone leave before you get hurt!" She directed everyone towards the door. The men were throwing tables and chairs at each other.

Pretty soon Bulma, Vegeta, Goku, and I were outside too, huddled in a group. Everyone was outside and again I saw the singer. She was trying to calm
the people down. Then she came over to me.

"Are you alright miss?" She asked me. She looked like she was about to cry. She still had the microphone in her hand and was still in her beautiful outfit.

"Yes, I'm fine thanks."

"I'm sorry. That man was my boyfriend."

I was shocked. "The man who was making moves on me while we were dancing?!"

She shook her head. "No. The one who saved you." She hung her head low. "The one who started the fight."

I looked at her. She thought it was her fault. And besides, he did it to do someone else a favor! Me! "Hey, it's Ok. He was just looking out for me. That other
guy was just a jerk." I put a hand on her shoulder.

She smiled. "Thanks."

The girl's boyfriend stepped out of the building. He came up to us with a smile on his face.

"Hey." He said putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't touch me!" she yelled.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

She started to cry heavily. "How could you do that?! You always have to start a fight everywhere you go! No matter what! You never think of anyone but
yourself!"

"But, I……was just trying to-"

"I don't care what you were trying to do! Even if you were doing it to save this woman you didn't have to destroy the whole restaurant! This was my big
day to perform again and you ruined it! You always ruin everything!"

She buried her face in her hands and sobbed some more. With that she ran off into the nearby woods. I ran after her. "Hey, wait!"
